Of course it’s not about the number.
It’s about the refugee who got in touch to say, “thank you for the beautiful blanket”;
It’s about the little girl stroking her mittens saying, “someone made these for me”.
It’s about the new mother, who has no family, who said, “since my Granny died there is no-one to knit for my baby”.
It’s about the loving intention with which you pick up your needles or hook, or sit at your sewing machine to make a beautiful gift for someone you are unlikely ever to meet.
It’s about the people who help “backstage” with myriad unseen tasks, willingly contributing skill and resources, and it’s about the small business owners who kindly receive and hold donated items until we collect them.
